    Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!

There is a clear hint from the US Fed to hike policy rates at the December 12-13 review in order to continue with the gradual tightening process. Will it spook investor sentiment on Dalal Street? Well, lets keep our fingers crossed.

Nifty futures traded flat on the Singapore Stock Exchange this morning, indicating not much strength in investor sentiment to take the indices higher on Dalal Street.

Remember, the Nifty50 had formed a Doji pattern on Wednesday, suggesting indecisiveness. The index has a strong hurdle around the 10,360 mark, and that may kept the upside capped. Analysts say strength in Nifty Bank will steer the market going forward.

US stocks closed little changed on Wednesday. The Dow fell 64.65 points to 23,526, the S&P500 index lost about 2 points while the Nasdaq added 5 points.

Asian markets developed cold feet this morning, after Wednesday's major rally. Hong Kong's Hang Seng slipped 0.15 per cent a day after closing above the 30,000 mark for the first time in a decade. South Korea's benchmark Kospi edged down 0.07 per cent while Down Under, the S&P/ASX 200 shed 0.07 per cent.

The rupee erased all gains and closed marginally lower against the US dollar on Wednesday at 64.93 to the dollar, down 0.05 per cent from Tuesday’s close of 64.89. Crude oil rose near the highest levels in more than two years on Wednesday. WTI crude rose $1.19 per cent to settle at $58.02 a barrel.

In other news, rating agency Moody's sees an improvement in the credit profiles of India Inc next year, driven by better sales as it expects GST-related disruptions to wane, leading to an all-round recovery in economic activities. Meanwhile, a BlackRock blog saw the recent strength in oil prices moderating over the near term.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to modify the Centre's notification banning the use of furnace oil and pet coke in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana and asked the NTPC, which was seeking relaxation till it switches over to alternative fuel, to approach the government

Radhakishan Damani, founder of supermarket chain D-Mart, has completed the acquisition of Novotel Imagica Khopoli, a five-star luxury hotel located in a theme park off the Mumbai-Pune expressway, from Adlabs Entertainment.

Travel and travel-related financial services company Thomas Cook said on Wednesday that it had obtained board approval to raise over ₹600 crore by divesting a 5.42 per cent stake in its subsidiary Quess Corp, which will bring its shareholding down to 51.56 per cent through an offer for sale process.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed 13 directors of JP Associates not to alienate their personal properties and asked the company to pay up ₹275 crore by December end “like a good kid”.

The Indian Railways’ plan to electrify its entire network in the next four years could potentially expand the order pipeline of capital-goods makers by ₹40,000 crore, which would mean growth opportunities for L&T, KEC International, Kalpataru Power Transmission and Texmaco Rail Engineering

India Inc leaders were guarded in their response to the government’s proposed ban on wilful defaulters from bidding in bankruptcy courts as any blanket ban would punish even those who were singed by various economic factors including global ones.

Recovery of bad loans slackened in the second quarter, both sequentially and year over year, amid lacklustre sale to asset reconstruction companies, pushing some lenders to take recourse to bankruptcy proceedings to improve resolution.
